My own interview research..

My three interview ideas

1st interview – Foreign student- I will be asking them questions about their thoughts about education in general in the UK and what difficulties they have faced whilst being in education in the UK and how they overcame it.
2nd interview – Administration assistant at a college. I’ll be asking questions about their job roles as well as what it’s like to work in an admissions office, what they do and what challenges they face daily and where they see themselves in the future.
3rd interview – I will be interviewing a sales associate at a shop and I will be asking them general questions about their job in terms of what they do and what challenges they face.
For one of my interviews I am going to be interviewing a foreign student who studies at South City College Birmingham and I am going to ask them questions about how they feel about studying in the UK. I am also going to ask them questions like the differences between the education here and there an what they think in general about education, I am also going to ask questions like what they study.
I will open the interview by introducing myself saying “Hello, my name is Sarita and I am a student at South City College Birmingham myself and today I will be interviewing an oversees student from my college and I will be asking them just general questions about education in general and their views on it, this is for me to just see what they think of the United Kingdom’s education system.
1st Interview: Foreign Student
Questions:

1.    So tell us about yourself, about where you from?
2.    When did you come to the UK and how long have you been here?
3.    What made you come to the UK for education?
4.    What difficulties have you found yourself in while trying to get into education?
5.    What course are you on and do you enjoy what you do?
6.    Do you feel you get treated fairly as a student?
7.    What one thing would you say that you like about the education system in the UK?
For example the costs of courses etc

Purpose of my research:
Before doing my interview what I did was have a look at the facts about the topic of education, and the topic was about how the difficulties most students who are international face, so I realised that the main  issues they face are about getting loans so therefore in my interview I asked questions about the loan and costs. This information was found from sources on a site which surrounded the topic of foreign students educating in the UK

The methods of research: I used sources mainly from internet but I even had a look at articles on magazines as well as heard radio interviews too for example Karl Lagerfeld who is a clothes designer did a interview on a fashion magazine that I recently read and it was basically 12 questions and underneath them an answer followed straight away which was written exactly the way he said it such as the laughs and smiles he even gave when he said certain words and phrases.
The radio interview I heard was of a interview on  a radio show called BBC Asian Network and  it was a presenter called Bobby who interviewed a singer who has a new song out to buy on iTunes so that was  promotional  interview which is known as an informational interview.

The purpose of this interview: Foreign student interview: I did this interview to get an insight as well as the thoughts and feelings of foreign students in the UK doing education and what difficulties they face whilst being a student in the UK and how they cope with the course they do.
Interview planning: Location: this interview I did was at college itself and it was in the radio room, I did this there as the area was quiet so it was much more convenient to do that as there would be no interruptions as well as unnecessary background noise.
Date/time: Tuesday 11:00pm 2015 on the 9th of June: The interview which I have done I think that it could be played for a local television as it’s just a basic insight on views of foreign students about what they think of the UK education system. It could possibly be even on the local news on a little feature about education.

Second interview: Administration interview

I will be interviewing and administration assistant who works at college and will be asking her about her job role and what she does in general in terms of what the duties involve as well as how she helps out students.

Questions:
1)    Could you please tell me a little bit about your job role, in terms of what it actually involves?
2)    What general information did you provide to your students, like what sort?
3)    How long have you been in your role?
4)    What are your typical working hours?
5)    One thing you mostly enjoy about your job?
6)    What have you found most challenging about your job?
7)    What are your colleagues like that you work with? Is your relationship good with them would you say?
8)    What would be the best advice you could give me as a student to who’s interested in the field of admin?
9)    Where do you see yourself in 2 years? Do you see yourself still in the admin field or something else?
10) What’s got you interested in administration?
11) What previous qualifications do you hold that have got you into this job you have now?

Purpose of research
the research is to get as much information about the subject of administration so I know what sort of questions I can ask the person I am interviewing. I also needed to make sure that the questions were quite quick and straight to the point as she kindly gave me time to answer her questions in her spare time.

Before I did this interview I got just general information about what I could ask a administration assistant and I got this information from a student who studies business and administration so this was a good thing for me to have done I gave me a heads up in terms of knowing what sort of questions I can ask as well as what main things I should cover in the interview so it would be easier for the interviewee to answer questions. I did this because research because I found this really quite helpful as it gave me a good idea on questions for the interview.

The purpose:  The purpose of this interview with a college administration interview  was to simply just get to know what it’s like to have a job in administration and what it’s like to carry out the duties, this interview I did was an informational one and it informed us about the administration role and what the job involves, so if someone is interested in this field of work I think they will get a decent grasp and a slight insight of what skills they need to have as well as what they need to do to become an administration assistant. So overall I feel as though this interview is a informational as well as quite informative.
This interview about administration would be ideal for either a educational television programme or radio programme as it’s about telling the listening audience what it is like to be in a certain job field.
Date/time/Location: the date I took this interview was on Monday 15th June it was roughly around 12:00 afternoon time and the interview took place at the admissions office in the college itself and they kindly gave me 10 minutes in the office to do the interview.

 Third interview: Retail assistant interview

Questions

1)    So you’re a sales assistant, so can you tell me a bit about your job role, in terms of what it actually involves as well as where you work?
2)    What general information do you need to know about working in this environment?
3)    How long have you been a sales assistant?
4)    What are your typical working hours?
5)    One thing you mostly enjoy about your job?
6)    What have you found most challenging about your position as a sales assistant?
7)    What are your workers like that you work with? Is your relationship good with them would you say?
8)    What would be the best advice you could give someone who’s interested in the field of being a sales associate/ assistant?
9)    Where do you see yourself in 2 years? Do you see yourself still in the field of sales or something else?
10) What’s got you interested in sales?
11) Give me three key skills do you need to be a sales associate?
12) What previous qualifications do you hold that have got you into this job you have now?

Purpose: the purpose of my research was basically just to get an insight as well as a good understanding and feel of what it is like to be an associate at a shop in a health and beauty sector and as well as what they actually do behind the counter and what complications they face as well as what they enjoy doing and what skills they think they need as individuals to get a job in this field.

Before I did this interview I made sure I got a good set of questions to ask the sales associate and I had to make sure my questions were quite good so what I did was watch a few videos online about working in retail and I mainly looked at a lot of college promotion videos about retail just to see what they do and I also analysed a few people in the stores just generally to see what they do and I think that this was a really good idea for me to have beforehand because it gave me a good understanding of what retail assistants do so I then began to come up with questions myself in my mind  to ask the assistant, the background research has helped me a lot to think of questions of what I should ask and that what I feel made my interview flow and I liked that because I was more confident doing this interview, whilst doing this interview I had to be quite quick with my questions as well as manage my time quite effectively as she generously took time out of her busy schedule to actually do this interview with me on her break so i didn’t really want to take up to much of her time.

Methods of research: I got my information in terms resources from the internet as I researched generally what to ask a retail assistant, I didn’t want it for them to feel like a interview for them so I made sure I asked questions in terms about what they do rather what they need to do so I thought it would be better as its more of a way which will get me to know more about there role as an retail assistant.
